Original: Lady Bird is a friendly, and incredibly affectionate dog, who loves a good cuddle. She will crawl on the sofa and lay her head in your lap if you let her. She also likes to sneak in the bed with you at night if she can get away with it. She has the most heartwarming eyes absolutely guaranteed to make you fall in love with her. She is mild mannered and gentle with you, or company, when entering the house. She acts very much like a lady.
It’s hard to imagine but this lovely gal ended up on a stranger’s porch without a collar. The man ran an ad in the local paper in an effort to return her to her owner. When no response came, he took her to a shelter in western Pennsylvania and from there, she came into MAESSR’s care. She is in very good health and was an excellent patient during her checkup with the vet.
With just a short time in her foster home, it’s clear that Lady Bird’s favorite place is near her people. She is well behaved on a leash and won’t try to run when you open the door. She doesn’t counter surf or beg for food from your plate. She knows basic commands and loves it when her foster parents sneak her treats. She has been introduced to a crate so that she can be at ease in one should the need arise, but in her foster home, she enjoys having run of the house without any problems.
It takes Lady Bird a few minutes to settle for a ride, but once she does, she travels very nicely. Her foster parents suggest a harness in the back seat to limit her initial stirring and make her feel safe and secure on the road.
In her foster home Lady Bird is adapting well to the busyness of the new humans and dogs in her life. Her foster parents do feel that at times the pace makes her a bit uncomfortable, more noticeably when the resident male dogs are in their most rambunctious moods. Lady Bird gets along with them but doesn’t always join in their games. She will do best in a quieter home where she can enjoy lots of attention from her people and feel safe in returning it.
Lady Bird could be a perfect choice for the family who would love an easy-to-live-with companion but doesn’t have the time to socialize and train a younger dog. She could be a very nice “first” Springer for people who admire the breed, but have not lived with one before, or for an experienced family who would like to add a second Springer to their household. Lady’s only wish is that she be part of daily cuddles with a family who will assure that she never needs the shelter of a stranger’s porch again.
