Original: Lady entered MAESSR care as an owner relinquishment. Her family in western Maryland was moving and could only take 2 of their 3 dogs. Lady had lived most, if not all, of her life as an outdoor dog. She was in need of serious grooming when she came into her foster home, but underneath the toll of outdoor living, was a beautiful little girl with nice physical lines. Rather than shaving off all her feathering, Lady endured, with patience, the slow process of clipping the matting that clung to her neck and backside.
Becoming an indoor dog is a change Lady has taken to quickly. So far there have been no accidents in her foster home. She is extremely well behaved with no counter surfing nor begging and she is crated trained. Lady is also very quiet and can sit on the patio or front porch and watch the outside activities with only an occasional bark just to say “hello.”
She rides well in a car and doesn’t pull on her leash. When she is out on a walk, she tends to ignore dogs that she meets as well as children in her neighborhood. She lets them pet her if they want, but she doesn’t get excited when she sees them. Lady doesn’t seem particularly shy to her foster mom, rather she is just not aggressive in seeking out attention. She’s also a very smart girl. She has learned quickly the difference between exiting the front and back doors. She knows that if she is going out the front door, she must sit and wait for the leash. However, if she is going out the backdoor, she can run ahead and then, turn around, waiting for someone to come out onto the deck to supervise.
All that is missing for Lady is a forever home. She will be ready for her “new beginning” very soon. Could you provide the love and attention she deserves?
