Update 8/5/04:
Lady is now in foster care and is doing well. She is getting along just fine with the resident year old springer and has enjoyed meeting dogs, large and small, on our walks. Her foster parents’ springer visited her in her former house and she was perfectly fine with him being there. She has not shown any inclination to counter surf and she is not food aggressive. One can remove a bone from her mouth without hesitation. She is housebroken and has had no accidents. She is a well behaved lady.
Lady also gets along fine with the two resident cats, basically ignoring them. She loves attention from people and is fawned over by people we meet in the park. Don’t let her age fool you; Lady is really active and engaged when she’s outside. Lady is used to going on long walks daily, her endurance is good, and she is very agile. She enjoys her siestas on the couch, though, to catch up on her beauty sleep. At night she either sleeps on the bed, the couch, or next to the bed. She is hard of hearing as previously mentioned and is not very good with basic commands. A fenced yard would be nice and leashed walks are musts. She rides very well in a car and is good when being groomed.
Lady is just a sweet girl looking for some loving family to share her golden years. How about it?
Original:
Poor lady has had some rough luck within the past month. Her owner has been put in a nursing home permanently and Lady is still living in her home with a caregiver coming by a couple of times a day. She is very sad and lonely. Lady loves people. She is a little hard of hearing and has some arthritis which she is on medication for. She also has some colitis and will need to be on Purina EN dog food from the vet to keep her from getting diarrhea. It is believed that this was brought on by her owner giving her people food all of her life. It is reported that Lady seems to be more afraid of larger dogs that she has met on her walks. Lady has never lived with children therefore she should not be placed in a home with young children. She is house trained, good at the groomer but a little nervous and loves to go on walks but is quite a puller. Lady has lived with a cat in the past and did fine although it has been a little while. She doesn’t bark that much only when a car pulls up or she is excited for food as she was given table food a lot in the past. She may try to counter surf. She likes to spend quiet time on the sofa and get lots of attention. She has also been used to sleeping on the bed. The family will be selling the house soon and Lady has until the end of August to find a new home. Can you give lady a new home to spend her golden years?
