Update 01/03/09: Laddie has returned to MAESSR’s care through no fault of his own. He is the same wonderful, loving boy he has always been. He has proven to be good with younger children than was previously known, now good with children as young as 2 years. He also gets along with horses and goats as well as dogs and cats. Indeed, it seems Laddie needs a four-legged companion in his life in addition to loving people. This handsome boy is the perfect companion for any home. Just meeting him brings a smile!
Update 10/09/08: Laddie has really come out of his shell in foster care. He is living with young children, other dogs, and cats. He loves everyone and everything.
His housebreaking is still a work in progress, but he has greatly improved. Laddie needs just a little more time of consistent guidance from his family to ace his training. He loves to sleep in a dog bed and thinks that living in a house is just the most wonderful thing ever. This is one extremely sweet, loving boy. He will be a terrific companion for some lucky family!!
Original: Laddie was relinquished to MAESSR when his family could no longer afford to care for him. He had lived on the “farm” his whole life and had not been exposed to much, nor had he received any training. He is very scared of new sights and sounds, but his only reaction is that he wants you to hold his paw. Laddie had never been in a house before coming to his MAESSR foster home. It took him exactly two days to figure out that he always wants to be inside and staying outside is not for him. He knows what the good life is! Laddie is still cautious of all the strange sounds that happen in a house but wants to be inside so badly that he does not let them affect him too much.
Laddie came to his foster home as an extremely matted mess! The only alternative his foster mom had was to shave him down. At first he was frightened of the clippers, but then he figured out that he was getting lots of attention! Since he loved the attention, he just patiently allowed his foster mom to clip down his coat. When his foster mom was done with his haircut, Laddie strutted around for hours showing everyone how handsome he was now that the mats were gone. This boy has an absolutely fantastic temperament! He so wants to please. Laddie is going to be a super addition to some lucky family.
Laddie will need a family that is willing to take the time to show him that the world is a wonderful place and that he does not need to be frightened. His foster mom would strongly recommend an obedience class so Laddie can learn the rules for being a well-behaved boy.
There will be more updates on Laddie as he learns about life at his foster home.
