Update 04/06/11:
Lacey was adopted by a family with two young boys. She was fantastic with the children, but she occasionally ate their toy trucks, so she was returned to her MAESSR foster home.
Lacey is every bit as sweet and wonderful as she was before she left. She’ll be looking for another family soon, one that could have children, dogs and cats, but one without the temptation of small people toys within her reach. She’ll gladly go to obedience class with her new family to formalize her education as well as for the sheer fun of it. If you’re ready to love and share in the joy of life with a youthful Springer, keep an eye to Lacey. She’s a beautiful gal, through and through!!
Update 01/13/11:
Lacey completely healed from her first hip surgery and she began moving faster than her foster mom had ever seen her. The surgery on her other hip was performed last week, and Lacey’s recovery has been amazing to watch. With each passing day, this sweet young girl’s mobility improves. Her foster mom is confident that within two weeks she will be running around like a CYS (crazy young Springer)! Can you imagine the relief she must feel from being pain-free, perhaps for the first time in her life?
Now that she’s on the mend, Lacey has recently moved to a new foster home. Her new foster family reports that she is the friendliest little dog. She walks up to everyone, wagging her tail and waiting to be loved. Since her mobility is improving, Lacey has a new favorite place to go – the pet store! She loves meeting the other dogs and people, making friends with all. On a recent pet store visit, Lacey met a young girl who was about 5 years old. It was love at first sight for both of them! It might just be the cutest scene her foster mom has ever seen!
Through MAESSR’s love and generosity, Lacey has a new lease on life. It won’t be long before this sweetheart is ready for a forever home.
Original:
Lacey was relinquished to MAESSR when her loving owners found out she had really bad hips and needed expensive surgery on both hips. They family could not afford the surgeries and they did not want this sweet girl to live in pain. They contacted MAESSR to see if we could help. She was moved into a foster home and had surgery on the left hip in less than a week. Lacey is making a fantastic recovery from her first surgery and will have the other hip done in four weeks.
Lacey has a very sweet gentle disposition that hides a bit of an impish side. She is starting to feel so much better that her foster mom caught her trying to counter-surf a couple of days ago. Lacey is reliably housetrained and is given full run of her foster home. She sleeps in the bed with her foster parents and is always a perfect angel. Lacey was reportedly prone to car sickness in her previous home, but now rides around with her foster mom without an issue.
This wonderful little girl is going to be a great addition to some lucky forever home. Check her webpage occasionally to see how her second surgery goes.
