Original: “Koko is the puppy every child dreams of having – a pup who loves unconditionally and is as cute as a button.”
Koko 2 was relinquished to MAESSR by her Virginia owner who had six other dogs in her home. She reported that Koko did not seem to play well with her eldest diabetic “alpha” dog. The owner found Koko as a stray in October 2016, with no collar or tags and took her to the local animal control hoping to find the original owner; however, animal control posted Koko’s information on local websites with no response. The owner had Koko treated for fleas, microchipped, and spayed.
Koko is fully housetrained and has never been crated. Her foster parents have never heard her bark, not even at other animals. When she wants the attention of humans, this love whimpers quietly and locks her gorgeous eyes on her person. When she sees her foster mom getting ready for a walk to the beach, Koko jumps up on her hind legs, does a crazy kangaroo dance, and runs to the basket where her harness and leash are kept. She then politely sits, moving her paws forward so her harness can be fastened. This Cocker Spaniel is one kooky pup!
Koko is fed in the kitchen and cleans her bowl every time. She loves to drink a lot of water and to chase ice cubes around her bowl.
Miss K responds to her name and knows “come,” “sit,” and “no.” She is trusted off leash in open spaces. This well-mannered puppy doesn’t chew inappropriately. In fact, her foster parents have never seen her chew anything except a bone. She never counter-surfs or explores the trash or rolls of toilet paper. Koko is polite as can be when fed a treat from her foster parent’s hand. She is the best her foster parents have ever seen. At night, Koko sleeps like a baby seven to eight hours on the couch or on the cool hardwood floors.
This beautiful cocker is timid in the company of people she does not know but warms up rather quickly. She is a perfect lady around unknown dogs, big and small. She has not yet come in close contact with a cat but is intrigued by them. Lucky Koko loves exploring the Jersey Shore and does great walking on a leash. Every morning Koko and the resident Springer take a two mile walk to the beach and Koko never tires. If Koko’s foster mom didn’t have to go to work Koko would probably love a five mile walk! She is a fit gal who loves to run on the beach. This sweet girl also loves to run in large circles, especially around the perimeter of her foster parents’ home chasing the twenty month old resident English Springer Spaniel who has become her best “bud.” She is not very interested in toys; this gal is too proper.
Koko loves attention and is eager to share her love. She always gives kisses and loves to have her belly and back rubbed. She’ll patiently sit on the kitchen floor watching her foster dad cook. She’ll snuggle on her foster mom’s lap while she’s reading or watching television and nudge her foster mom until she gets a belly rub. Koko is the puppy every child dreams of having – a pup who loves unconditionally and is as cute as a button.
Being the small gal that she is, Koko stays close to her foster mom and dad, rarely letting them out of her sight. When she first came to live at her foster home, Koko was a “nervous Nelly” with her tail constantly between her legs. After settling into her foster home and becoming best friends with the resident Springer, Koko’s tail has been wagging and her spirits have lifted.
Koko has done well on car rides, generally closing her eyes within a short time. Her behavior at a groomer is unknown although Koko’s foster dad bathed her and she did well. She is a good girl when she gets her ears cleaned and waits patiently while her foster mom wipes her feet and belly after walks.
Koko is an adorable, cuddly pup. She would do great in any forever home that is willing to play with her as she truly is “a man’s best friend.” Koko will surely make her forever home the happiest home ever – she’ll stick to her people like glue and steal their hearts away. She is a sweetheart and one special Cocker Spaniel.
