With all their adolescent exuberance, young Springers can be quite a handful. Even for the best-intentioned owner, this can end up being too much. When Kody’s North Carolina family had trouble handling his journey into adulthood, they looked to MAESSR for help with finding him a home where he’d be able to get what he needs.
This pup is learning how to get along with other dogs in his foster home. He loves to play with the resident one year-old female Springer and curls up at night with the other resident dogs. He is housebroken and signals when he needs to go out. Though he is not crate trained, Kody has run of the house and is very good when his foster parents are away.
When he is out in the yard, Kody stays close and comes when called. He loves to play fetch with his people and tries to beat all the other dogs to the tennis ball. He does not resource guard his food or other toys. This moderate-energy boy lies around the house during the day and can often be found lounging on the bed.
Not used to being around strangers, Kody barks when he sees new people and will not go up to greet them. Although he is quite timid with new faces, he allows his foster family members to touch him all over. He is a true Velcro Springer who loves to curl up in a lap. If he doesn’t think he’s getting enough attention, he’ll jump up and bark!
Kody will likely bond quickly to his new family and his foster dad thinks he’d do best in a home with older children. He is a sweet boy and will need a forever home that can commit to helping him get past his shyness with new people and places. For the investment of time and love, his adopting family will have a devoted companion for life!
