Update 04/02/12:
Yes, Kody is a gorgeous boy and one who is really getting comfortable in his foster home. He gives his foster mom lots of kisses and he loves for her to rub his ears, belly and legs along with a good old back scratching. Kody still isn’t sure about his foster dad, unless his mom isn’t home or it has something to do with dinner, a ride in the truck or a walk……:)).
Kody recently visited the groomer and was a real pro. He knew exactly why he was there and what to do. And, oh my, what a handsome, handsome guy when done. Great job, Kody!
His weight loss is taking a little longer then he wished, because of his age. Kody gets tender if keeping up too vigorous a daily walking regimen and needs to take a couple days off, here and there. Yet, this same boy is always ready to go for a fun romp in the woods and to jump into any pond he can find.
Kody has a new foster sister. He is very patient with her and is showing her the ropes of the new house. Since she is not housetrained, he has been a very good example for her. Kody could be a great companion for dogs and/or cats in his adopting home and will be ready shortly to be put to the test. Check back soon lest he slip to “adopted” before you notice!
Original:
Kody was the center of the universe in his DC home for ten years until the new baby became mobile. While Kody was napping, the nine-month-old fell on Kody, scaring him. When Kody jumped up, he inadvertently scratched the toddler on the face. Needless to say, the owner thought it would be better for Kody to find another universe to become the center of again. So, Kody became a MAESSR boy.
Moving to foster care has been tough for Kody who is missing his family, but he is slowly feeling at home with his foster mom. He loves to walk between her legs and plant himself halfway though while he gets a nice back rubbing and scratching. The resident dog has not been very nice to Kody, though, so he tries to avoid her and he ignores the resident cat.
Kody has found a small soccer ball that he loves to bury in a pile of leaves and tries to find again. He also likes to kick the ball and chase it around the yard. This good boy will release the ball upon request so that a family member can join his game. When playtime is over, Kody enjoys taking a ride in his foster dad’s truck. But, Kody’s favorite thing is going for walks and going swimming followed by a nice long nap.
A very good house quest, Kody will not get on the furniture unless invited, doesn’t jump on people, and does not counter-surf. He is completely housetrained and signals his need to go out. When it comes to dinner time, he is not aggressive with his food, but he is very curious about what the foster family is eating and hopes they will share. At treat time, Kody will sit, give you his paw or lie down for you and then very nicely take his prize. Kody was crate trained but no longer requires it because he is so trustworthy in the house.
Although Kody is a handsome guy, he could stand to lose a few pounds. So, he will need to get some exercise to get back into shape. He will be very happy to do so, as long as he is with his family. This should not be hard since he walks well on a leash, needing just an occasional reminder to slow down. Occasionally, Kody can be a little grumpy and grumbles if you try to pull him by his collar, mess with his ears, or rub his stomach. He was just fine for his visit to the vet’s office, though; he was quite a gentleman with the staff and other animals. Good boy, Kody!
Kody is looking for his very own family with whom he can share his golden years. He’s active and especially happy when he can be close to his people.
