Original: “KODA IS A KEEPER! Just ask her foster family’s young son who has asked to spend his college fund on her care and keep her as his own.”
Koda was surrendered when her family in Pennsylvania found that they didn’t have enough time to spend with her. Knowing that she was spending too much time alone, they turned to MAESSR to help find her a wonderful new home that she so deserves. Koda’s foster family will attest that this sweet, loveable, young Springer will get into your heart quickly, as she has theirs!
Immediately settling into her foster family, Koda was a bit shy initially but it did not take long for her to become one of the pack. She shares her foster home with four resident dogs, one barn cat, and a lot of wildlife. She loves to be outdoors running and in the woods. She’s getting plenty of exercise running on her foster family’s farm. This true best friend does not need a leash; she will stay by your side but, if a leash is needed, she will walk fine on that also.
When Koda visited the vet she did wonderfully in the car. Once there, she was a bit shy but behaved perfectly. She was found to be in excellent health except for needing to lose several extra pounds that she’s carrying around. Her family is working on slimming her down and they know that it won’t take long with all of the activity she’s getting now. Koda is a somewhat rare Springer since she’s never had any ear problems. She is a joy to groom!
From day one Koda signaled to go out. Her family uses the word “potty” and “kennel,” and she has learned both quickly. She is kenneled when her family is away for longer periods of time. For short absences, she is not.
This baby girl loves people!!! She’s a typical Velcro dog, so her humans had better make sure the bathroom door is closed. She wants to be at their side in any room and just loves pats and belly rubs. Koda has always slept on a bed and she is continuing to do that with her human ten year old foster brother. She waits at the door for him to let her in each night.
After just one week in her foster home, her family cannot say enough good things about Koda. This smart girl knows the commands “sit,” “come,” “stay,” and “hup” (come and sit in field.) Koda has excellent house manners as she has never displayed any counter-surfing or any type of aggression…just tons of love. Her family actually thinks she smiles!
Koda girl has not played with many toys and her former owner said she did not have any. Her foster family provided her with some new ones and encouraged play. They believe she could easily come to love toys and balls.
It has been a pleasure and joy for her foster family to watch this sweet lady come into her own while spending so much time outside to run and be around animal and human companions. Each day they have seen her blossom beyond belief. KODA IS A KEEPER! Just ask her foster family’s young son who has asked to spend his college fund on her care and keep her as his own. Were it not for the large pack they already share their lives with, plus fostering MAESSR dogs, Koda’s family would keep her in a heartbeat.
This incredibly sweet dog will do best and thrive in a loving family that wants their Springer to be close to them. She just asks for lots of love and long walks to enjoy nature with her family. The return on this investment will be priceless to the lucky family that calls Koda their own.
