Update 10/22/2017:  “However, a secure month in his foster home has taught him to enjoy his foster siblings; he plays well with three other resident dogs.” 

Oh, my, sibling rivalry!!!   Koby will grumble when other dogs get between him and his people because he has had to compete for attention with his litter mate in earlier days.  However, a secure month in his foster home has taught him to enjoy his foster siblings; he plays well with three other resident dogs. 

Koby has had no accidents in his foster home since his first week.  He still uses a crate when his folks are not home but would probably be fine without one.

This love is a perfect little gentleman.  He sits and waits for a treat and loves to sit on his foster dad’s lap.  Outside, he has learned to walk nicely on a leash next to his person.

Koby is learning, learning, learning and adjusting to his new circumstances.  He’s shown he can live with other dogs and be comfy and cuddly with the humans in his house.  He is really ready for a forever home and looking for that special person who will enjoy loving him.

Koby and his litter mate, Bo 12, came to be in MAESSR’s care when their West Virginia family could no longer afford to care for them and were losing their home.  Koby slept in an outbuilding with two other dogs and was taken out daily.
 
The new fellow in the home is not 100% housetrained and has had accidents in his foster home.   He does not indicate that he wants to go out, and, when going out with the other dogs in his foster home, he sometimes doesn’t take advantage of the opportunity. He is crate trained and is in his crate when his foster family is not home.  He does go in very nicely.
 
Koby is a little love who makes mistakes because he hasn’t been trained.  He is working on his house manners. He jumps up and paws at his humans for attention.  He is pretty gentle at taking treats, but came from a house with two other dogs, so he pushes in to get what is offered.  This gentleman has not counter-surfed—yay for Koby!!  He is allowed on the furniture and enjoys a sofa snuggle.  He sleeps in his foster parents’ bedroom at night.  Koby does not chew inappropriately but likes kongs, balls, and chewing on nylabones
 
Although he knows no commands, Koby is learning “sit” and “down.”  He has little experience on leash walks and is a puller. He barks at other dogs on a walk but enjoys the sights and smells. He rides very well in the car.  This middle-aged Springer’s energy level is medium. He seems content with a daily one mile walk and a session of backyard ball.
 
Koby loves to play fetch but also loves to snuggle and has become less “whiny” and “needy” over the course of the first week in foster care. He ignores the resident dog and plays/fights with his littermate, but definitely guards resources; he growls when other dogs get between him and his humans. He shares toys and food with his littermate, but not with other dogs.  
 
Koby did great in the bath and allowed his mom to groom him with clippers, including his ears which were in terrible shape; he was good when having those beautiful but problematic Springer ears cleaned. Koby was very cooperative at the vet.
 
This handsome young man must be very confused as to proper behavior inside and outside and with others both two- and four-legged. “What do I do where with whom?”  But, he is doing his best and wants to please.  He has a loving and sweet personality and deserves to be an only dog in a caring forever home (adults and older children only) that will help him be the best he can be.   Watch out–You will fall in love with the way this guy looks at you!
