Original: “Kira the cuddle bug loves to snuggle with her foster parents.”
Kira lived with one Pennsylvania family for her whole life. Although Kira was raised with five girls ranging from age 0-16, and did perfectly fine with them, she was not tolerant of children she did not know getting in her face. Kira had been good around children until about five years ago when a pet sitters’ child taunted her while she was crated. The family had managed this situation by putting Kira in her crate in an office when other children were around. Now that the extended family has been getting bigger and visiting more often, it was becoming more difficult to manage Kira. For the safety of both Kira and visiting children, the family felt it best to relinquish her to MAESSR.
Kira the cuddle bug loves to snuggle with her foster parents. She requires lots of pets! Her house and leash manners are impeccable with no accidents in the home. Kira was crated when her foster parents went out for the first few days. but now, she has free run of the house. Kira started out sleeping on a dog bed in her foster parents’ room but now enjoys finding a perfect spot on the human bed.
Until very recently Kira did not show any interest in the toys that her original family sent with her. Now, she loves to chew on her duck and she makes little growling noises while she is playing with it. When foster mom plays with Kira and ducky, she doesn’t seem interested when her mom picks it up. She can be mouthy when she is excited, though.
Kira is a small Springer and is not tall enough to counter-surf. She is not a trash picker nor a beggar. During human meal time, she quietly sits a distance away. What a good girl!
A smart, obedient dog, Kira knows the commands “sit,” “paw,” “crate,” and “stay” and is good on leash walks. The vet tech was very impressed with how well-behave Kira was getting a nail clipped and getting blood drawn. Also, her foster mom has given Kira a bath with no issues. While Kira enjoys her walks, she does not require a lot of exercise. Kira snuggles up to adult humans on her walks and is friendly when meeting other dogs. She has not been exposed to cats in her foster home but did live another dog and cat reportedly.
Kira is the perfect dog for someone who loves an affectionate, well-mannered, easy-to-walk pet. But remember, she should not be placed in a home with children due to her history. Bring an older Springer into your family. Seniors ROCK!
