Original: “She loves to help clean up, too. If she’s told to bring the toys to her kennel, then that’s exactly where Kinley puts them. Wow!”
Recently from New Jersey but born in Alaska, pretty Kinley needed to find a new home. She was aggressive toward one of the other dogs in her home and would growl at younger children. Young children make Kinley very nervous. With the family expecting their first child, they were very concerned about how Kinley would act around the baby. They made the extremely difficult choice to let MAESSR find her another family.
This beautiful girl was not socialized to children or other dogs, but she loves to be with her people. She is a typical Velcro pup, following her humans everywhere. Kinley’s former owner described her as brilliant. She knows “sit,” “stay,” “roll over,” and more. Additionally, upon request in the morning, Kinley will fetch her bowl to be fed. If she’s asked to get the other dogs’ bowls, this little helper will get them, as well! She loves to help clean up, too. If she’s told to bring the toys to her kennel, then that’s exactly where Kinley puts them. Wow!
Kinley’s leash manners are a work in progress. Previously she lived on nine acres and was trusted to run around the yard, although she prefers being out there with her people. She has spent time around chickens and a cat – and she loved them all. This bird dog loves birds!
Kinley is housetrained and crate-trained; her family crated her at night and when they were away. She loves getting a home grooming. She’ll get in the tub and she loves the blow dryer – this girl enjoys her spa time! Swimming and playing ball are fun pastimes for Kinley, and she loves going for rides in the car. She’s good at the vet, just a little bit timid.
With the other dogs in Kinley’s previous home, she was possessive with her toys; she did not exhibit this with her people who could take toys away without a problem. She loves adult humans!
When Kinley arrived at her foster home her anxiety was at very high levels. Working with the vet, she was placed on an inexpensive anxiety medication. This has really made a big difference for Kinley. She is living in a foster home with many other dogs and has not growled at anyone. Her foster home is recommending that she be an only dog, but she should be fine with an occasional visiting dog, going to the dog park, or spending time with friends who have dogs. Since Kinley is afraid of children, her foster mom also is recommending that there not be any young children in her forever home.
Kinley is such a sweet, beautiful girl. We need to find her a home that’s just as special as she is!
