Update 06/12/12:
At a recent vet visit, each littermate of the adorable puppy four-pack was altered and received all but the rabies vaccine. By law, this is not permitted until the pups are 12 weeks old.
CAUTION: As one visualizes the following, it is guaranteed to invoke an, “Awww…” response. All of the puppies sleep together in their crate at night and they are crated together while their foster mom is at work. Additionally, they eat in their crate, so this is a “happy” place for them.
Housetraining is coming along very nicely for this litter because they are very smart! First thing in the morning, when the puppies are left out of their crate, they run to the puppy pad to take care of business. The puppy pad is near the door so, if their foster mom was fast enough to get them outside and into the yard, they would definitely do their duties outside. With consistent and routine training they will be housetrained in no time. Supervision is still needed during playtime but most of the time they will stop their play, run to the puppy pad, and then quickly get back to playing.
The puppies also have a crate with soft sides that they play in. Since they have mastered the flapping door on it, their foster mom thinks that they could easily figure out how to use a doggie door if their adopting homes should have them; this will surely help with their housetraining.
Kent loves to explore and is always looking for something to get into; he just knows that there must be something in that closed up box for him to play with! This little guy also likes to share whatever it is that he finds with one of his siblings. Not fond of being alone, Kent always prefers to be with either one of his littermates, the resident dogs, or even one of the cats. This is one sociable pup!
Stay tuned for more updates on this sweet boy’s progress.
Original:
Pups in need of homes can pop up in some of the most unexpected places. When a MAESSR volunteer spotted an ad for four Springer puppies on an Ohio recycling website, she checked them out. Their owners were not sure who the “dad” was but the mother of the unplanned litter was their full Springer. The volunteer took them home. With becoming MAESSR dogs, they will be assured of loving, suitable, and committed forever families.
Kent is a sweet little boy whose tail never stops wagging! Kent just goes with the flow of his siblings. If they want to play, he plays; if they want to nap, he naps. He is one easy-going puppy! Kent is also very curious about the cats, not knowing quite what to think of them just yet. He likes to follow the big dogs around, just to see what they are doing. He is also the type of puppy who needs to carry something with him, and bring you whatever it is that he has found. Kent will surely be a pleaser as he grows up!
If you are interested in adopting Kent, be aware that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
Springer puppies like Kent are cute bundles of joy and ENERGY! Make sure your family is ready to commit to the training and exercising that comes with owning a Springer pup. It’s a lifetime responsibility. He deserves the best!
