Original: “Kemet has shown himself to be a big lovebug in his foster home.“
Kemet’s military family is being transferred overseas from Virginia and they cannot take him along. Based on advice from Kemet’s breeder, MAESSR was contacted to find him a wonderful new home.
This big boy is still learning to coordinate his feet at times. Kemet acts like a puppy in his actions and continuous curiosity about everything around him – everything needs to be explored! So far squirrels, rabbits and birds are just to be watched; he doesn’t bark or chase them. Reportedly, he loves to swim and run on the beach.
His house manners have been good. That said, he will stand up on the edge of the kitchen counter, not to steal food, but just to see what his people are doing. Kemet is quickly learning the “off” command as a result. He does not get up on the furniture in the house. There have been no marking or accidents in the house either.
This MAESSR newbie knows “come,” “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “paw.” He likes to go on walks, though he starts out pulling, using “easy” will help slow his pace to a gentle walk. His foster family is also working on “this way,” “potty,” and “leave it.” He is very trainable and really likes the rewards that come with learning. He is developing quite a repertoire of commands to which he responds. Smart pup!
When he came into foster care, Kemet had a significant ear infection which was quite painful. He is not fond of having multiple ear medications applied, but his ears will soon be clear again.
Kemet has shown himself to be a big lovebug in his foster home. He is a true Velcro Springer and has attached himself to foster mom. In his original home, he lived with an eight-year-old child and teenager. He is getting along well with the two older resident Springers in his foster home and tries to imitate what they do. Housetrained, he is also crate trained and is currently sleeping on a dog bed in foster parents’ bedroom with the resident dogs.
Kemet came into MAESSR eating puppy food which has contributed to his over-weight status. He has been moved to adult dog food and is walked several times each day for exercise. Testing for any object possession, his food bowl has been moved during mealtime with no problem.
This big guy would love to be part of an active family as he likes to play chase. He also plays well by himself. Having a fenced-in yard would be a bonus in his forever home. Kemet is a great dog! Would you like to help him explore and reach his full potential? He will make a wonderful addition to your life.
