Kelly was adopted 5.5 years ago from another ESS rescue. She has clearly been well-cared for and adored, but there is a new baby in the house and some concerns about Kelly growling around the baby. Kelly has exhibited no signs of aggression at her foster home nor to children as young as six at the dog park. However, it is probably best if this gal be placed at a home without children.
Kelly is the picture of “growing old gracefully.” She has had a stroke which has left half of her face paralyzed and limited her mobility. Albeit slowly, she gets where she wants to go. Steps are a challenge due to the partial paralysis and her arthritis but she has recently been put on a regimen of two glucosamine and buffered aspirin each day and seems to be responding quite well.
Little Miss Kelly is a cuddle bunny and will roll over to let you pet her tummy any time you want. She is also very happy to see visitors and will practically wag her entire body. She gets along very well with the resident Springer and frequently can be found sitting at his feet as he sits on his favorite chair. She gets along very well with the other dogs at the dog park. In fact, a few of the male dogs have taken to nuzzling her to show their affection each day which she responds to quite well. She was not pleased when one of the male dogs attempted to mount and told him in no uncertain terms that she is a lady and does not do such things. Ideally, Kelly would do best in a household that has few steps and is looking for a dog with the typical Springer temperament without the exercise requirements. She is as sweet as any Springer you will ever meet but and will cuddle and love you on demand. She just doesn’t need all the exercise of a typical Springer.
Would Kelly be the perfect gal for you?
Update:
Kelly found a wonderful family with whom to spend her senior years.
