Original: “If the humans are up and about, she reminds them that she’s only 2 and READY for adventure!”
JoJo is super friendly girl with her tail always wagging. She came to MAESSR after her female owner from New Jersey had some health issues.
Initially overwhelmed by a home without her female Springer pal, she had a few seizures. She was started on anti-seizure meds and has been fine since.
She is housetrained but gets excited once she gets outside. So, her person needs to break her focus long enough to remind her that they’re outside to pee/poop instead of playing ball. To signal her need to go outside, she paces a little. Jojo is crate trained and sleeps there at night or when the humans are gone, but prefers flopping on the floor or a bed near the humans. The term “Velcro” describes her perfectly!
Confined to two rooms in her former life, Jojo is learning the rules in her foster home. She’ll “periscope up” to look at the kitchen counter but stays away from the trash. Concerning the rule, “no dogs on furniture,” she seemed to ask, “What is furniture?” but stays off it. She doesn’t chew anything that’s not a toy. Good girl!
Her leash manners are getting better with the usual back and forth searching for smells. She’s learning “sit” for treats and at the gate to go for a walk. Outside the fenced yard, she loves to sniff. If someone comes by, she wants to greet them with wagging tail. In the car, she’d prefer to ride shotgun in the passenger seat but stays in the back if told to do so.
Jojo is good with the resident sight hounds. She plays the underdog when the residents get pushy. Having only ever lived with other Springers, that might be her preference, but she’s open to play with buddies of any sort. She doesn’t resource guard food, toys, or humans, either. JoJo’s fed separately because she’s slower about finishing her meals than the residents. Reportedly, she’d think about chasing the resident cat in her former home. During the workday, JoJo is low key and willing to flop nearby her foster mom as she works. If the humans are up and about, she reminds them that she’s only 2 and READY for adventure!
Jojo hasn’t been formally groomed. When she arrived in her foster home, she had big mats in her ears and was fine about having those cut out. She seems to love being brushed and doesn’t mind having her ears or paws handled. Although unknown with vet visits, JoJo doesn’t have the concept of “stranger” at all, so she should do fine.
This adorable gal would love to have an active life with lots of interaction. With her gentle nature, obedience, rally, or dock diving might suit her. But so would just love, getting lots of pets, special attention, and focus from a loving family. She’s ready to bloom for some lucky family!
