Original: “Maybe diamonds and emeralds are not for you, but wouldn’t you like to add this “Jewel” to your family?”
Jewels was turned in to a North Carolina shelter by her owners because she kept chasing unspecified small animals. The shelter staff thought she was absolutely wonderful, named her Jewels because of her striking eyes, and were happy to work with MAESSR to transition her into a foster home. Jewels is a Springer mix, but her foster mom has no idea what the mix is. She acts like a Springer…..and that is what really counts!
This little girl is initially shy when meeting people, but quickly warms up. It was originally thought that she was afraid of men but that has turned out to not be the case. Her foster mom feels Jewels was just terrified because of going through so many changes in such a short amount of time. Jewels has calmed down and been a joy to be around in her foster home.
Jewels is crate trained. When she originally arrived in her foster home, her family thought she was not house trained. It turned out that she had a urinary tract infection and, once treatment was started for that, the accidents ceased. Yay for Jewels!!!
The new girl on the farm loves to play and wrestle with the other dogs in her foster home and has not been observed chasing any animals inappropriately. She will attempt to counter surf, but is small and has not been successful. Her foster mom has been able to take anything from her mouth that Jewels should not have. She rides well in the car and walks fairly well on a leash.
Jewels did wonderfully at her vet visit. Everyone who met her there just raved about what a sweetie she was. Because she was so unbelievably flea-infested when she came to MAESSR, she also had tapeworms. She has been successfully treated for both. Jewels also had some minor hair loss on her ears from all the scratching she was doing because of the fleas. The fleas are now long gone, and, her hair is coming back beautifully.
MAESSR’s smallest sweetheart is ready for her forever home. Maybe diamonds and emeralds are not for you, but wouldn’t you like to add this “Jewel” to your family? Start the New Year off with the best of additions!!
