Original: When a breeder in western Pennsylvania gave up her breeding program, Jessie came into MAESSR’s care she was living outdoors. Now Jessie is adjusting to her new life as an inside dog. Her refresher course in housetraining is working well. She needs to go out three or four times a day and has had only one accident. She is learning to eat and sleep in her crate and does great once in the crate. A cookie bribe seems to do the trick to get her to obey the “crate” command. Jessie rides nicely in the back seat of the car, just sleeping peacefully. She even has worn a dog seat harness successfully.
Jessie loves to run and play in her foster mom’s fenced yard. She responds well to her name and comes promptly when called. “Greeting” manners need a bit of polishing as she likes to jump, putting her front paws on people’s middle, but she responds well to “off”. Jessie will need an obedience class to remind her of her commands, but she has been a great student in her informal foster school. She loves to be told what a good girl she is.
Jessie loves toys. She takes it as a personal challenge to remove the squeaky mechanism out of any stuffed toy left in the crate with her. Being pet is another of her favorite things as are walks, playtimes, and one-on-one time with her foster mom.
A dream to brush on the grooming table, Jessie is also good about having her ears cleaned and her toenails trimmed. She wiggles the whole time she is getting her spa treatment. Her foster mom talks to her continually and Jessie watches continually. She likes to smell the brush and the nail clipper before her foster mom uses them. Jessie’s foster mom ends her beauty session with play outside with her stuffed ball. Life doesn’t get much better for a beautiful girl!
Jessie has been trying to chase the resident cats with a little too much intensity. They are correcting her and getting into their kitty condo away from her when they have the option. She gets along well with the resident male Springers.
This pretty Springer girl is willing to please and is at the perfect age to blend into an active home. Could Jessie be the right match for your family?
