Poor Jenny was dumped in a shelter because her family did not have time for her. She is a very beautiful dog with shiny black fur. Her face is very cute, and she has thick, curly, long ears. She sits, gives paw, stays, and knows “down.” While in the yard she always comes when called. She walks like a gem on leash. At night she sleeps quietly on her bed next to the family. She wants to be close at all times. She does not get on furniture, counter surf, or raid the trash. She wants to please.
Jenny is used to being an only dog. She should be placed as an only dog, if possible, or with a very submissive male. Jenny’s former family, which included 3 children and no dogs, said she showed some food aggression. Her foster family has only seen this when other male dogs get too close while she is waiting to eat or is being petted. Her foster family can move her bowl and she simply follows it. She has answered “come” with a greenie in her mouth and allowed her foster dad to pet her while chewing! Food around other dogs seems to be the issue for her. By contrast, she will sleep during the day right next to one of the resident springers and makes attempts to play with him.
Jenny was reported to have been experiencing some urine leakage, but a vet check for this produced a clean bill of health. It is felt by her foster family that the recent changes and stress in Jenny’s life may have caused a limited difficulty, but with a steady routine for her now, the foster family is not seeing this problem. She could be given medication should this happen again.
Jenny is a sweet soul who doesn’t need or want anyone to yell. She will listen well to a soft voice and needs no harsh correction. She is quiet in the house but is fiercely protective of her family when she hears noises outside. She will bark, but stops right away when asked. She has not been crated in her foster home as there has been no need. She seems to prefer her foster dad over her foster mom, perhaps because her former owner was a male. Jenny has lived with cats and did well according to her previous family. She loves belly rubs and sweet words whispered in her ears and to be told she is safe and loved. Jenny’s ideal home would be with someone that is gentle and soft spoken with her and can give her lots of love and appreciate her. .She wants a FOREVER home. Can you give her the love she deserves????????
