Original: Jeb is a sweetheart of a boy who has lived his entire life with his family. They are a military family and have been assigned to a 3-year stint in Japan. Jeb, through no fault of his own, cannot go with them. He would not pass the physical for relocation due to his age and skin allergies. Additionally, the family and vet feel he would not be able to receive the medical care he needs for his allergies while abroad. The vet suggested putting Jeb down, but his family could not accept this fate for their loving companion and family member. They have turned to MAESSR with the hopes of finding someone to love him for the rest of his days.
Jeb is a beautiful bench bred Springer, with sparkling eyes, and your typical wiggle butt personality. He loves to take long walks, hike, retrieve sticks, and go swimming with his family. Jeb is always ready for a car ride with his family too.
This gentleman is housetrained and does not get on furniture. He will bark when someone comes to the front door or when he is hungry for dinner, a true Springer indeed! He does not dig, chew, jump fences, or jump on people. Jeb has excelled in counter surfing and trash picking. His family deals with this by keeping a lid on the garbage can and by not leaving food on the counter. Jeb knows sit, stay, come, and lie down. He walks well on a leash until he gets excited and then may pull a little. He can be trusted off leash, only wandering for a couple of yards.
Jeb interacted well with the three children in his original home. He is good with adults but does not like men in hats. If the hats come off, then he is fine. He is good with other dogs and cats, being inquisitive with cats and eager to sniff and play with them.
Jeb has allergies but no major health issues. He has been found to be allergic to wheat, chicken and pork. He is fed a venison and potatoes kibble, cooked potatoes and white rice with his meals. This diet has helped Jeb immensely and if he has a flare-up, he is given prednisone to clear up his skin quickly. Additionally, he gets medicated shampoo baths which keep his skin and coat shiny and lush.
Jeb is in great shape for a 13-year-old Springer. He’s a sweetheart and so loveable. This senior would do especially well in a senior’s home. If you could please pick up where Jeb’s wonderful family left off, he’d be honored to share his life with yours.
