Jax came to MAESSR after his previous owner from Maryland passed away. A family friend had taken Jax in, but Jax was not fond of the child in the home.
Jax is housetrained and has no submissive urination. He does not like to be crated. He has full freedom in the house, is trusted off lead (he will chase squirrels but returns when called), and loves to ride in the car. He is very friendly with adults but is not a fan of children. Jax does not “guard” his food or toys. He loves the water and likes toys and his walks.
Although Mr. J. lived with six cats, he did not interact with them because they were afraid of him. Given his interest in squirrels, he should be tested with cats before being placed in a home with felines.
While Jax may not have had any formal obedience training, he is very well-mannered. He knows “sit,” “come,” “down,” and “paw.” No one has tried “heel” with him, but he does walk well on his leash and reportedly listens very well. He barks very little and does not beg or counter-surf. He does, however, jump on people in greeting.
This pup enjoyed his time at the groomer’s who gave him high praise for being so easy to groom. He showed no problems with the handling or his ears or paws. He loves to roll over and have his belly rubbed.
Jax needs a family that will make sure he gets plenty of exercise. He is a young Springer and like to GOOOO! A fenced yard would be very helpful also for this really sweet boy. He’s looking for a home where he can play in the leaves, run through the snow and look handsome under the Christmas tree.
