We have conflicting stories about Jasper. What we know is that he is a 3 to 5 year old black and white neutered dog. He is up to date on all of his shots and heartworm negative. He is slightly underweight. He kept his cage clean at the shelter we pulled him from, so we assume he’s housebroken.
Now, why was he turned in? We have two stories. One is that the former owner turned him in saying he wasn’t good with kids and left it at that. The other story we have is that he was found as a stray at the edge of a hunting preserve. When his owner could not be located, he was taken to the shelter. It is possible, that the man who turned him in was the one who found him – who knows?
He’s been to the vet where it was determined that he does have a heart murmur. We don’t know yet how severe it is or what the long term implications are. We will be following up with it. Many dogs and people have heart murmurs and live long and healthy lives. We hope the same will be true for Jasper.
Jasper is doing very well in foster care. He loves the other dog in the house and ignores the cat. He has adjusted well. He is housebroken and knows house manners. He will make a great addition to someone’s home.
