Due to a change in family circumstances, Jasmine (Jazz) was relinquished to MAESSR. She came to her foster family with a basket of toys, treats, and much love. While her date of birth reflects seven years old, she displays an active level of energy, playing and running around the yard. She is very adaptable and will rest when it’s quiet time.
Jazz has not missed a step and has fit in well at her foster home. She is a great car rider and if given the choice, she would ride all the time with windows open and ears flying. She enjoys every part of her life: walks, meals, playing with toys! She is particularly fond of squeaky toys and tug toys, and enjoys strutting around with a tennis ball in her mouth — quite proud of her find!
Jazz is housetrained and crate-trained and has been very well behaved loose in the house. At night, she will sleep on a dog bed by the bedside. Jazz will pull on a leash and is not consistent on her “come” command. With some added attention, this can be corrected. She does know sit and down and a few play tricks like “play dead” where she will drop down and roll. When Jazz is excited, she does jump, but it is not a hard or forceful jump. In her former home, Jazz was not supervised closely when loose in the yard and she developed the habit of nibbling on feces which would make her sick and require vet visits about twice a year. Since she has been in her foster home, she has only attempted to do this once and she was caught in the act and was stopped from doing this. Good yard clean-up, supervision, and leashed walks are ways of curtailing this not uncommon behavior.
Jazz is neutral to other dogs. She is interested to meet them but will not assert herself with them. Jazz does run around with the resident Springers in the back yard, but she does not initiate play with them. Prior to being relinquished to MAESSR, she had been going to a doggie day care and dog park. Although it’s clear she prefers the company of people, Jazz will periodically show some independence in her exploration and activities in her foster home, but she always comes by to check your presence. So, she is not a constant “velcro” dog. She has been very good meeting strangers and well-behaved children. She does enjoy moving animals such as squirrels and rabbits, so a household with active cats may not suit her.
Jazz will fill your life with much joy and love.
