Updated 6/4/07: Jasmine has come back to MAESSR through no fault of her own. The family that adopted her in 2000, unfortunately, has had a series of extremely drastic events in their lives and simply could no longer care for her.
Jasmine is an absolutely wonderful gal and has a true springer temperament. She is goofy and sweet all at the same time. She is very easy to live with and comfortable when out in public. She attended the most recent MAESSR picnic, mixing and mingling off leash with 30-40 other springers and their families, for the entire day. She would move from one person to another, settling at one’s feet for a few minutes or longer, and then would return to her foster parents. She never strayed from the group and seemed as relaxed as if she was sitting at home in her own living room.
Like so many mature springers, Jasmine has wonderful house manners. Well, occasionally, she will dump the trash can when there is an especially interesting smell to be checked out. She loves to go for walks. She loves to be with the people around her and soaks up love and attention. If she is left alone, she will get anxious, but as long as she has a doggy companion, she is content when her people are away.
Jasmine will need to be adopted by someone who is either home much of the time or by someone who has another dog. Do you have room in your home and heart for this pretty girl? She would love to join in on your walks and picnics, settle at your feet and be your sweetheart!!
Original: What a tortured path it has taken Jasmine to get to us. She was originally living tied up outside. Being intact, she of course got pregnant. As soon as the puppies were homed, Jasmine has come to us.
Jasmine is very cute. She needs training, we believe she has been left run amuck. She is a very sweet, passive girl but she is very active and excitable. She is not really hyper but occasionally borders on it. Jasmine is desperately in need of training and luckily, learns easily.
Jasmine fits in well in her new foster home. She is full of energy. Her foster mom gave her a bath and she loved it even though she had to be washed several times to get all the dirt out of her. Jasmine needs to put on a few pounds but is not emaciated.
Jasmine gets along well with dogs and the cat and all people. She loves and craves attention. Her foster mom has not tested her but supposedly she loves kids most of all and her foster mom can see no reason why this would not be true given her loving disposition.
Jasmine looks more fieldy than show but may be just plain backyard bred. She carries toys and grumbles while parading with them. Not a bad grumble just communicating. She talks too.
Jasmine went to the vet last week for an overhaul — seems she needed everything. All shots are current now, heartworm negative, 1st fecal – negative, skin infection present for which she is taking antibiotics. She has a severe case of whipworm and hookworm which we are treating. How she survived puppies with that bad of an infection is beyond us. We found fleas too. Anyway, she is well on the road to recovery and gaining weight.
We would like to see Jasmine in a home with some discipline but other than being annoying we don’t think she would ever be dominant although she can be pushy. The pushiness is from wanting attention. She now is crate trained and does not try to destroy it but accepts it as a good thing (where we get food!).
