Original: “On leash, he greets people by flopping on his tummy with his tail wagging.”
Jameson initially belonged to a teenager who didn’t understand the level of commitment an active Springer requires. This love of a dog wasn’t inside, kept either in a kennel or on a line outside. A friend took him but a few sock eating incidents (puppy love) caused him to be passed on again. His third Pennsylvania owner did a great job of teaching him so much. He got along great with her female dog, but less so with the male. No fighting allowed since there was a two year old kid in the house, so she reached out to MAESSR.
Since coming to foster care, his mom has realized how much that third owner did toward making Jameson a solid citizen. He doesn’t jump up, is decent on leash, crates up quietly on command, and is completely housetrained. His only sin seems to have been that he didn’t like her male Pittie. He’s “active” indoors as to be expected with a two year old Springer. “Crate up” or “GO lie down,” and he drops and flops while his foster mom works. He paces a bit if he needs to go out, sleeps soundly in his crate at night, and does fine with three resident hounds. No counter-surfing, trash diving or chewing what he shouldn’t (so far) out of him. Thunder doesn’t seem to bother him. He usually carries around a stuffed animal as a pal. His foster home has a lot of old stuffies and he seems to pick a “favorite of the day.” He hangs out with the resident dogs, gets fed three feet away from the big male with no issues. On leash, he greets people by flopping on his tummy with his tail wagging.
Jameson knows “sit,” “down,” “wait” (for food) , “come” and is a smart boy who catches on quickly to everything. He loves fetching but needs some work with retrieve. He is a gem to groom and bathe. Mr. J loves car rides, going to new places and splashing in the baby pool. He has been content in his kennel while his family is at work.
Mr. Sociable seems to do fine in most situations. He doesn’t seem to think anyone is a stranger and loves life in general. His ideal home could go in so many different directions as long as it gives him attention and something to do. Water would be good and someone to toss toys from time to time and make him openly wag by saying, ‘What a good boy!” would be the cream on top for this love.
