Original: Jake was relinquished to MAESSR’s care by a family in northern Virginia. His dad had passed away and his mom did not have the ability to give him the love and attention that he needs. He is in good health but has picked up a few extra pounds. With a little support from his foster mom, Jake is working at losing. In his previous home, Jake did live with a cat that he did not have much contact with. When he did, the owner said he might chase but never harmed it.
At his foster home Jake has settled in with his foster brother and sisters and is doing well with all of them. He will get a little grumbly when he is chewing on a bone or has another prize possession, a behavior that his foster mom is working with him on. He can also be very mouthy when playing with his foster mom, again something that she has begun training on. This boy wiggles all over at the thought of attention and loves to chase anything that you throw for him. He loves to play chase and loves his toys.
Jake’s house manners are very good. He is house trained. He doesn’t dig, chew or jump the 4-foot chain link fence at his foster home. He doesn’t even jump on people to greet them. Good boy!!! It is unknown if he will beg for food or counter surf, but so far so good. He rides great in a car. Jake has never been to obedience class but knows “sit,” “stay,” and “come” to his name. He was crate trained as a puppy and he loves his soft crate, running into it whenever something new startles him or when it is time to sleep. He pulls a lot on leash and it is unknown if he could be trusted off leash.
Grooming was overdue for Jake when he arrived at his foster home so he was treated to a day of beauty-making and is now sporting a military shave down. As his coat grows back, brushing will ensure his beautiful curly coat returns minus the mats. Jake is ready to find his forever home and will reward his adopting family with tons of wiggles and kisses.
