Original: Jake was surrendered by his owner to an animal welfare league in eastern West Virginia. He had been purchased from a breeder and was given up after 2 weeks because the owner could not handle him. After 2 weeks in the shelter, he went home with his foster mom. At his vet check, Jake was found to be very healthy with only one short term need. He is now finishing medication for whip worms and is going to be neutered on April 18. He is all legs and not very coordinated yet. When he tries to scratch his ear with his back leg, he ends up falling over sideways. Oh, the joys of puppy-watching!!!
Playing a lot is what puppies love to do and Jake is no exception. He loves other dogs and wants to play with them. His furry foster sister did not like him and his rambunctious ways at first. Jake is tenacious though, and, he convinced her that playing with him is fun! He would do great in a household where there was another dog to wear him out.
Jake is a good puppy and is not destructive. His stuffed toys are not ripped to shreds and the bedding in his crate is in one piece. He doesn’t mind his crate and has worked his way up gradually to spending 4 hours at a time in it. He aims to please and wants to be around people all the time. He likes to go in the backyard as long as his foster family is with him. He will climb up on his foster mom’s lap and fall asleep.
In other ways, Jake is pure puppy too. He chews everything in sight, moving from his toys to wires, socks and paperwork. He is very curious and wants to know what his foster family is doing. He jumps up on his foster family when they have food. He sticks his face around the shower curtain and puts his front paws on the counter to watch the cleaning of dishes. He is being corrected but will need formal training in his forever home to firm up good manners. He is such a good boy with good intentions and only needs a family who will love him and guide his growing into a fun-loving and devoted companion.
