Original: Jade is a beautiful, seven-month-old Springer girl who was relinquished by her owners to a NJ shelter because they said they had too many dogs. Poor Jade was then adopted by another family who thought she was not good with kids or other dogs because of her exuberance when she first meets new people and dogs. So, MAESSR stepped in and brought her into foster care.
Within fifteen minutes of arriving in her foster home, Jade made fast friends with the two resident canines and the adult humans. She does jump on new people or old friends when they first come home, but she is quickly learning that is not acceptable. She also settles down within five minutes of any celebration. Like any young dog, Jade will see what she can get away with. Although she does stay off of the furniture most of the time, she will sneak on the couch and pretend she belongs there. Checking what is on the counter is another thing that she is being taught not to do.
When her foster parents are at work and at night, Jade is crated. However, on one occasion, her foster family accidentally gave her free access to the house. They were gone four hours and Miss Jade proved that she could be left with full access in the house with no incident. She did a little backsliding on her perfect record when she discovered a shoe that needed chewing. So, her foster parents do not leave her alone where there is access to shoes. When she first arrived in foster care, she had one accident and since then, she has gone outside to eliminate, signaling her foster family when she needs to go out. So, she is almost completely housetrained. She now knows her foster family’s routine and has adjusted well.
Jade is very playful but is not a high energy dog. She needs some work on leash walking as this is a pretty new concept to her. She does know “sit,” “stay,” and “come” and she sleeps on the floor next to one of the resident dogs like she’s always been there. Jade also comes when called in a fenced yard and really wants nothing more than to be with her people. She’s more than willing to jump into the car for a ride with her foster family and she travels well.
Jade is very much a cuddlier and loves to be petted. When sitting next to her foster mom, Jade does get a bit possessive and will grumble at the other dogs when they want to be petted, too. Her foster parents are working on correcting this behavior. Other than wanting mom to herself, she gets along well with the resident Springers and wants to play with them. Jade enjoys the great outdoors but likes to have company when she is out there. Her favorite toys of the season are acorns and leaves which she happily brings in the house to share!
The apple of her foster dad’s eye, this little girl is nothing but sweetness and contentment in a seven-month-old Springer’s body. She is eager to be your best friend!
