Original: Jackson was brought to the shelter because his family was moving and was unable to take him along with them. He was purchased by this family when he was a puppy, so he spent all 7 years with the same family. He knows how to sit, lay down, and shake. He walks incredibly well on a leash and loves to go for walks.
He was not sure about the crate at first but has been going in with no problem lately. He does not jump, or try to sit on the furniture. He just wants to lay at your side. He likes to cuddle and get close to you and likes to follow you wherever you go.
He is a small male, weighing in around 40 pounds. He has been neutered and is all healed from his surgery. He is doing great.
In his previous home, Jackson lived with a two-year-old child and the intake form indicated that he did well with this child. Jackson also does well with other dogs, although he probably would be happier with a female dog or a non-dominant male dog. He currently is residing with 4 other Springers in his foster home and is doing very well with the family’s routine. He particularly likes the female dog and seems to play with her the most.
Jackson loves to be with you and will follow you everywhere you go. He does bark sometimes but is easily corrected by a firm no. He is laid back, eager to please, and just wants to be part of the family. Currently, he is left alone with the other dogs for 8-9 hours while the foster family works. He is not destructive and does very well under those circumstances.
Since Jackson is now spending time on the farm, he is experiencing things for the first time, i.e. horses, cattle, etc. He wants to chase and bark at them. Jackson is also very attentive and barks when strangers approach your home and he will serve as an excellent watch dog, while still maintaining that Springer tail wagging personality as he greets your company.
With each passing day, Jackson grows more and more relaxed. We think this experience has been very traumatic for him. When he was pulled from the shelter his little body was shaking like a leaf. He is more and more confident every day and his Springer like personality is coming out in abundance. When he runs into the house, he now searches out a toy on the floor and flips it into the air to play. He loves to chew on hooves, rawhides and bones.
Please help take the uncertainty out of his world and give him the forever home he deserves.
Update: Jackson found a family to call his own!
