Jackson and his brother Hiro entered MAESSR’s care when their Pennsylvania family had to downsize to a smaller home and no longer had space for these sweet pups.
This boy is one of the most loveable, well-behaved youngsters his foster mom has ever known. Jackson arrived at his foster home, excitedly going up the front steps with his tail wagging and body shaking with delight to be meeting more people. In no time at all, he made himself at home. Jackson is polite, friendly, and loving to adults, children, and the many neighborhood dogs he meets on his walks. He met a cat at the vet’s office and was curious but polite with it.
Jackson walks well on either a regular leash or a flexi-leash with no pulling. He does start to run after squirrels and would dearly love to catch one, but he stops when his name is called. He does not leave the yard unless told to do so; then, he happily heads off on whatever adventure awaits him.
In the house, Jackson has impeccable manners and does fine weather confined to a crate, enclosed in one room, or given free run of the house. He is housetrained and has stayed in the house alone for up to 7 hours without any accidents. He can be crated at night, but instead his foster parents allow him to lie quietly next to the bed and next to his sibling Springer. At night, he barks only when he hears a strange sound. Jackson is a very good watchdog! He isn’t a problem barker but does alert to the possibility of something strange going on. He does not counter-surf, trash dive, or get on furniture. Although Jackson loves car rides (and does very well in the car), he does not know how to jump into the car, so a good bit of heavy hoisting is required. He knows the commands sit, stay, and come.
Jackson’s favorite toy is his brother, Hiro. The two dogs frolic and tumble with each other, share their bones and food, and enjoy playing tug-of-war with their toys (or socks that were left lying around the house). Jackson will often cuddle up next to his brother and give him kisses, gently licking his ears and face. Because these boys have been together their whole lives and are extremely close, it would be ideal if they could be adopted by the same forever family. Keep your fingers crossed for these two sweethearts!
