When Jackson’s Virginia family had to move out-of-state to secure jobs, they could not take all their dogs along and relinquished Jackson to MAESSR. Jackson is a sweet and energetic boy who loves everybody he has met and gets along well with other dogs. Although he stayed in an outdoor kennel for the last year, this boy has not forgotten his house manners. He is completely house trained and does not trash dive, although he will occasionally peek on the counters if he smells something of interest.
Jackson is a very enthusiastic three-year-old, who needs lots of exercise and would be happiest if he had a job in his forever home. He is very good off-leash and loves nothing better than running in the fields at his foster home, hunting for whatever he can find or flush. He also loves his toys and will carry them in and out of the house in the hopes that someone will play with him.
A smart boy, Jackson knows sit, stay, come, down, and paw. He does pull on leash, but his foster mom is working on this issue with him. Jackson is good in the car and just sits in the backseat admiring the scenery.
So far Jackson has only been curious about the cats in his foster home, although his foster mom thinks he would probably chase them outside since he plays with anything that moves. He is reported to be good with preteen children, but has not come in contact with younger children during his time in foster care. His foster mom feels that he may be too energetic for very young children.
This sweet boy loves to be petted. He will sit with his head in his foster mom’s lap for some attention. He is not above getting up on the sofa or bed to cuddle, but will get off when told as he has a complete understanding of the word no. He will then sleep on his dog bed in the bedroom. When his foster mom is out, Jackson has free reign in the house with no problems.
There has been no evidence of resource guarding. Jackson even let his foster mom have the live turtle he found with no problem – that is, once he was through showing it off as a prize find! Jackson is a delightful boy who will keep you laughing with his antics. He needs a home where he can run off his energy and hunt to his heart’s content, with people of his own to love him. If you want a pup who will keep you entertained and laughing, this is the boy for you!
