Original: “His foster mom and dad decided to send him to doggie daycare two days a week since he has no playmates at home or in the neighborhood. He REALLY enjoys his time there.”
Handsome Jack became a MAESSR boy when his owner in North Carolina had to move to assisted living. Upon his arrival at his foster home, his parents noticed that Jack is not 100% Springer and appears to have Border Collie or Austrian Shepherd in his heritage. He might be more of a herder; he lives on the water but shows no interest in swimming or getting wet.
Jack walks well with a harness and leash and does not pull. He does bark when he meets other dogs on a walk. When his mom and dad go out, he barks for a while, then settles down. They usually come home to find him on their bed with one of his toys. He loves fetching his toys and a tennis ball but does not know he’s supposed to give it up!
There is no counter-surfing, trash picking, destructive behavior, or begging for this good boy. At home Jack is not crated but he does enter one at the doggie daycare when it is rest time. Jack was good with the vet, going on a car ride, and getting a bath. A smart boy, he knows “sit,” “high-five,” and he’s working on “stay.” He responds to being called about 75% of the time.
Jack is a low-energy guy. His foster mom and dad decided to send him to doggie daycare two days a week since he has no playmates at home or in the neighborhood. He REALLY enjoys his time there.
A visit with grandchildren is in Jack’s immediate future and it will be his first time around children. The youngest grandchild is 10 years old and it is expected to be a mutually fun visit.
Jack’s foster parents believe that Jack would do well in an obedience class. He is a sweet, smart, and loving dog. What a great addition he’ll be to a very lucky family!
