When the owner’s grandson developed severe breathing allergies whenever he was around Jack, this North Carolina boy came into MAESSR’s care to find a new home.
Although he has spent his entire life outside, Jack has impeccable house manners and has had no accidents in his foster home. Respectful of his new “inside” life, Jack does not jump on people, counter-surf, or trash-pick. Good boy, Jack! Reportedly, he has had no obedience training but knows “sit” and “come.”
A vet visit revealed that Jack is heartworm positive. His adopting family will be given a 12 month supply of heartworm medication, a regimen known as the “slow kill” treatment. Otherwise, Jack is in excellent health.
This very sweet boy has interacted appropriately with children as young as 18 months in his former home. In his foster home, Jack lives with three children ages 9 years, 3 years, and 9 months. His foster mom believes that he would make a terrific family dog.
Jack formerly lived with another dog and is friendly towards other canines. Although he has not hurt the resident cat, he displays way too much interest in him and thinks chasing him is fun, fun, fun!
Jack walks well on a leash, loves to go for rides, and is crate trained. This is one sweet pup that will make a very special pet for a very lucky family.
