Original: Due to his energy level Jack was given up by his original family. He is pure energy, and the family had a hard time providing him with the exercise he needs and craves. He is AKC registered and such a good-looking dog. He weighs 44 pounds, is all muscle and was proclaimed by the vet to be a very healthy and beautiful Springer.
Jack is all about play and moves at top speed all the time. He is currently living with another Springer foster and 3 resident dogs and does so well with them. He realizes which dog wants to play with him and which one wants to be left alone. He and the resident Springer will play for hours at a time. They love rough and tumble play and will do numerous laps around the backyard. Jack is very athletic and can be seen leaping over the resident Goldens when he is playing chase. He is at his best when he gets at least 3 to 4 hours of playtime a day. Jack could be a poster boy for “a tired Springer is a happy Springer!”
Jack is crate trained and goes into his crate once a treat is shown to him. He is crated during the day up to 5 hours at a time, however, he is given free run of the house during the night. It was reported that, if bored, he will chew some items that should not be chewed. Since in his foster home, his time has been occupied by constant play and he has not chewed anything inappropriate as of yet.
This boy is super friendly to everyone he meets and is good with children down to age 5. He has not been around cats but, due to his energy level and drive, his foster dad would not recommend him around them. Jack has no aggression issues and can be trusted around his food bowl and takes his treats gently. Since Jack is always on the run and tends to drink and run, he is a bit of a water slob, but on the plus side, this means the floor is always cleanest around the dog bowl!
Jack loves car rides and does love to be your constant companion. He knows all the basic commands and responds very well to correction. Jack’s new family will need to be able to provide him with the necessary exercise. Another young dog in the house would be recommended and a great help in wearing this youngster out every day. The resident Springer in his foster home will be very sorry to see Jack leave, but he is such a wonderful guy and will make some family very happy.
