Bear and Izzy had lived with the same Virginia family since they were pups. They were originally inside dogs but unfortunately, the owner’s husband died about two years ago leaving her with two young children and two young Springers. Bear and Izzy were then placed outside. The owner does not have any time to spend with them, so this lucky pair became MAESSR dogs.
Izzy was such a good girl at the vet. But, while the vet was examining her, a huge bladder stone about the size of a ping pong ball was discovered. Surgery was done to remove the stones (there were many that were smaller). Izzy feels so much better now. She is being treated for a significant urinary tract infection. The urinary stones were believed to have been caused by an untreated urinary tract infection. This love also had fleas/ticks when she came in. She was immediately given a bath to get rid her of other fleas and is being treated for a skin infection that is the result of having fleas. And, she tested positive for Lyme disease. She will be treated for that once the treatment for the urinary infection is complete. This poor, sweet girl!!
Izzy was again wonderful for her home grooming. She enjoyed the attention. She was not a huge fan of having the hair cut from between her pads, but she tolerated it. She loved her bath. The more her foster mom rubbed on her, the better she liked it.
This young lady has been a wonderful house guest. She has not counter-surfed or trash dived. According to her previous family, she is known to do that, but has been good so far. Izzy has not had any accidents in her foster home. She is crate trained, but a crate is not necessary. She sleeps on a dog bed at the foot of her foster parents’ bed.
Izzy rides well in the car. She will pull on the leash at the beginning of the walk, but settles in fairly well.
Everyone, including dogs, has their preferences, and Izzy’s is that she does not like other dominant dogs. She will snip at them. Her foster mom is recommending that she only be placed with other dogs that are submissive.
Izzy is a total sweetheart who has been going through a rough time, medically. But, it’s a new world in the morning for her, and, like a beautiful flower—maybe a fall chrysanthemum, Izzy is going to blossom with her new family.
