Izzy was relinquished to MAESSR when her Pennsylvania family found her too much to deal with. She is a healthy, energetic two year old Springer who just couldn’t get enough attention in her home with children and other dogs.
This smart girl is housetrained, crate trained and knows the commands “sit,” “down,” and “NO.” Izzy took to the dog door in her foster home with no hesitation and will ask to go out the other door which doesn’t have one. She will ask to get up on the sofa, and is perfectly okay when told “no.” Izzy is a typical Velcro Springer who wants to be with people at all times. Although she showed some initial anxiety when her foster mom left the house, she figured out the routine in about four days and is now fine with it.
Izzy will counter-surf if things are left too close to the front of the counter, but she is not totally devoted to this temptation. However, she is a very nosy girl, sticking her head in all open cabinets and doors to see what’s going on in there! Her house manners in general have been excellent and she is a very polite girl when meeting and greeting new people. When her foster mom’s five year old great-grandchild was over for the afternoon, she and Izzy had a blast playing fetch and tug of war and just running around.
At night, Izzy either sleeps in an open crate besides her foster mom’s bed, or in the living room with the other foster dog. Since her manners are so good, Izzy has complete run of the house both night and day; her foster mom has not felt the need to crate her.
A playful pup, Izzy discovered the toy box on her second day in her foster home and now has toys all over the house. She doesn’t seem to have a preference: stuffed toys, Kongs, balls, or Wubbas, as long as it comes out of the toy box!
