When her family of ten years moved and could not take her along, Ivy was turned in to a high kill shelter in Pennsylvania. The family told the shelter staff that Ivy was protective of them. Due to that and her age, the staff had decided to not make her available for adoption. The MAESSR family jumped into action and got this extremely sweet girl into a temporary foster home as soon as possible.
Ivy was extremely matted and stinky when she arrived at her long-term foster home. Her first stop was the groomer for a really good bath and a haircut. There, it was discovered that Ivy is not crazy about having her feet and legs groomed. The second stop was the vet to find out what things could be done to make Ivy feel better. This girl only has one eye; the second did not form when she was young. Ivy had bad infections in both ears and a few lumps that were checked and determined to be fatty tumors. She also had some dental issues, so a thorough dental cleaning was performed, along with the removal of some bad teeth. While she was under, the undeveloped eye was sewn closed to help keep infection at bay. Ivy was a trooper through all of the procedures and the vet staff all absolutely loved her! Ivy has some hearing loss, but it has not in any way stopped her from hearing and doing the things she loves.
A mature lady, Ivy is completely reliable in the house. She is crate-trained, but a crate is not needed. She loves to ride in the car and just curls up and goes to sleep. This girl is so wonderful that her foster mom would keep her if she had room for one more resident Springer. She just has a quiet soothing aura about her that makes everyone want to scoop her up. As soon as her eye has healed, this fantastic little girl will be looking for her forever home. Don’t miss the chance to make her yours!
