Update 01/09/13: “He makes the point that some of life’s greater treasures come in small packages.”
Hudson went to the vet for a checkup and was a super good boy! The veterinarian and staff fell in love with this little guy. Hudson was extremely well behaved during his exam, patiently accepting all of the poking and prodding that goes with being in the vet’s hands. When all was complete, his health was deemed good………just what a guy likes to hear!
Hudson loves to ride in the car but has also decided that he wants to be the watchdog of the car. This 25 pounder thinks that he is a 100 pound shepherd when it comes to guarding “his” car. It’s rather entertaining since he is just a little squirt, but he will bark at whoever is getting into the car, even if it is his person…………:)). His foster mom is going to work on this behavior with him!
If taking his ride seriously, Hudson is really a lover and not a fighter. He’s a snuggle bug who will warm your winter nights and brighten your days year round. He has a big heart and lots of love to bestow on his people. He makes the point that some of life’s greater treasures come in small packages. Ask about meeting him and he’ll wow you with how “big” a little dog can be!
Original: “Although Hudson attempts to counter-surf when he sees the big dogs doing it, he is not very successful because he is just a short little guy that can’t possibly make it to the counter!”
Hudson is a very lucky little dog who is now an “honorary” Springer! He came to be a MAESSR boy when a MAESSR volunteer was pulling a Springer from a Pennsylvania shelter and was approached by a staff member who asked if we could help this little stray. Hudson was being passed by at the shelter by potential adopters because they said he had “bug eyes” and was too old. All of those who passed him up don’t know what they missed out on.
Affectionately nicknamed Chunky Monkey by his foster mom, Hudson is a true delight to have around. He is currently living with several other dogs and cats and there have been no issues. The shelter stated that Hudson has some food aggression, but this has not been observed in his foster home. Hudson has actually shared his food bowl with two other foster dogs. This polite boy will also sit and wait patiently for his turn at treats and then takes them very gently. Unfortunately, he often loses his treat because he will set it down and one of the other four-legged vultures will steal it from him. Unfair!
Completely housetrained, Hudson will go to the door and whimper to signal his need to go out. He is also crate trained and will willing go into his crate when asked to do so. Although Hudson attempts to counter-surf when he sees the big dogs doing it, he is not very successful because he is just a short little guy that can’t possibly make it to the counter! Hudson also loves to play and must carry a toy around with him at all times.
Hudson is a cuddly little teddy bear who loves to snuggle and sit on your lap. He will sleep in his crate but really prefers to be with his humans. He rides very well in the car, but he will chew his leash or the seat belt strap if you try to tether him. So, for safety, it is best to harness him in the car! He does not chew other items inappropriately, though, and is trusted to have full run of the house when his foster mom is home. Hudson enjoys being brushed and his foster mom has had no problem cleaning his ears or touching his feet.
Hudson will be making a trip to the vet soon, so look for that update!
