Original: Mother and daughter, Holly and Runcy came into rescue together. Their owners really loved the girls but simply didn’t have the time to spend with them. They spent most of their time outside in kennels and were not getting the love and attention they deserved. These girls were very easy to place they were good with children, housebroken and in excellent health.
Holly went to live with a single woman in Virginia. She was welcomed into a family full of Springer lovers. Her “grandmother” adopted Rupert, and several “aunts” had their own Springers. She is doing well and is well-loved and happy.
Runcy went to live with a family in Virginia. These folks were so eager for their dog! Their five year old son was intent on knowing her birth date so he could plan her birthday, help her open presents and feed her doggy birthday cake. After some initial growing pains involving learning to live in a house, Runcy is doing just fine. She lives in a loving family with two young boys.
UPDATE:
Holly is doing WONDERFULLY!!!! We have had a few minor altercations but for the most part, she is fitting in VERY well.
I got home one evening, from work, and found that Holly had been in my kitchen and pulled out a 5-lb bag of flour, 4 bags of chocolate chips and a box of teabags. I guess she wanted some chocolate chip cookies and a cup of tea !! (ha ha). She has lost some weight and is looking very fit and trim; instead of being almost 60 pounds, she is now down to a nice 50 pounds and her coat is looking so much better.
She is getting along beautifully with my sister’s springer, Duchess, and my mom’s springer, Rupert (another rescued dog). Holly loves running around in the yard with them until she just can’t run any longer. She also loves my nephew dearly. She is very protective of him but very gentle with him.
If one didn’t know better, they would swear that Holly came from the same litter that my grandmother’s springer did; however, I know that is not the case as my grandmother’s springer came from a litter that mom’s dog, Tory had before she died.
