Original: This spry springer is quite energetic for an 8-year-old, and has been a complete lady in her foster home. She does not counter-surf or beg for food, and only gets up on furniture when she is invited up. She does prefer to sleep on the bed with her foster family, and since she is so well behaved in the house, she is permitted this one indulgence. Holly does not like being crated and needs to be coaxed to go in, but will quiet down after only a couple minutes in the crate. She has earned the trust of her foster family and is given free run of the house when the foster family is away. She has done remarkably well with this freedom and has not chewed or damaged anything nor has she had any accidents.
Holly’s foster home does not have any other dogs or young children, but she came from a home with another dog and has done very well when meeting other dogs on the street or at the dog park. She has been very pleasant and calm when meeting the neighborhood children and has been a perfect lady with them.
When her foster family gets home, whether they have been away for ten minutes or ten hours, they are treated to the “Holly dance,” which consists of spins, running around in circles, yips, jumps, and whatever else she can think of doing at the time. It is quite a spectacle to see! Holly does not know any verbal commands, but her foster family is working on this. She is beginning to understand what “sit” means. Next on the list is “down.” “Heel” will follow even though Holly does pretty well on the leash and does not pull. Holly is reported by her previous owner as occasionally getting carsick, but her foster family has not experienced this. She starts out being anxious when she is riding in the car, but settles down after a little while. Her foster parents like to keep her buckled in during car rides for her safety.
Holly enjoys her walks and belly rubs, and she groans in pleasure when she is being brushed. In the yard or on walks, she seems very interested in chasing squirrels, rabbits, and just about any other furry creature she encounters. She has not had direct contact with cats, but has barked at them through a neighbor’s glass door and seemed very interested in chasing them. Holly is a bit overweight, but with frequent walks and exercise, she is already starting to regain a trimmer look.
This very gentle, but energetic Springer would like to greet you with her special “Holly dance!” Let her spin rings of love about you!
