Update 08/21/2021: “Her sensitivity to loud noises and things falling continues so her forever home should be a quiet, low key environment with no little kids running around making noise.”
Hilde continues to do well in her foster home. Her sensitivity to loud noises and things falling continues so her forever home should be a quiet, low key environment with no little kids running around making noise. Since Hilde refuses to do steps in the house, a one-story forever home would be her preference so she could be near her forever parents at night—not being separated from them by a scary flight of stairs.
Although Hilde and her sister Gretchen entered MAESSR at the same time and are being fostered together, they are not particularly bonded so they can be adopted separately.
Consider adding this sweet Springer wannabe to your pack!
Update 08/04/2021: “As they are not particularly bonded, their foster mom believes they would do just fine in separate homes…or, like Springers, two Cockers could be twice as fun as one!”
Although it was assumed that Hilde and her sister Gretchen were bound for spay surgery, it turned out that both girls were already altered. Hilde did have a small lipoma removed and she’s doing fine. Dissolving stitches were used for the procedure, so she won’t even have to go back for their removal.
Follow up vaccinations will happen in a week’s time, and then these sweet girls are ready for their forever homes. As they are not particularly bonded, their foster mom believes they would do just fine in separate homes…or, like Springers, two Cockers could be twice as fun as one!
Original: “This girl is calm and shy but warms up to everyone after a short time.”
Hilde, along with her sister, Gretchen, were found as strays in Virginia. During their stay in a shelter, these Cocker girls were brought up to date on all vaccinations. They were heavily matted and were groomed, revealing their beauty underneath all the long, tangled fur. Both Hilde and her sister are now together in a MAESSR foster home.
This girl is calm and shy but warms up to everyone after a short time. She has been with adults and children as young as seven years old. She will snuggle with a human and will come over and paw that person until she receives the proper amount of petting.
Hilde enjoys going outside and loves to just sit and watch her new environment with her foster mom. She likes long walks and will pull when she sees a small animal. This Springer wannabe travels well in the car. Her commands include “sit” and “stay” and she responds to whistling when her foster mom wants her to come. At mealtime Hilde eats in the kitchen. She does not food guard, sits very nicely when given treats, and does not chew inappropriate items in the house. While she does flinch at loud noises, Hilde is easily calmed.
Hilde has been crated and does well. She did bark in the morning once, letting her foster mom know that she had to go out. She normally sleeps on a dog bed and does not get up until she sees her foster mom rise. Her signal to go out is not particularly obvious as she is let out frequently. However, one time she did appear restless and was taken outside to do her business, which she did.
At the vet Hilde did well having her ears and eyes checked along with the usual poking and prodding to get her squared away health-wise. She did not react to any of the dogs while at the visit. She will be getting spayed soon and will need some time to recuperate. Afterwards this sweet girl will be looking for her forever home.
Hilde’s ideal home would be with someone who can give her a lot of time and attention, with a fenced yard and maybe one other dog sharing the home. Would you consider opening up your heart and home to Hilde?
