When their Virginia owner was losing his home, Hershey and his littermate Charlie 20 were surrendered to a local shelter. A MAESSR volunteer sprung them both and they were on their way to foster care. After he had a few minutes to settle down, Hershey was a great passenger while riding from the shelter to his foster home in New Jersey.
This sweet boy settled into his foster home without skipping a beat. He is fully housetrained, does not get on the furniture, and goes right into his crate. He sleeps on a dog bed in his foster mom’s room at night, but is crated when she is gone for the day. If counter-surfing was an Olympic sport, Hershey would be a gold medalist! Currently his foster mom is working on this, but his new family will have to keep a vigilant eye on him. She is also working on teaching Hershey not to jump up on people. Hershey does not chew or destroy his toys or other objects he finds laying around. What a good boy!
Both Hershey and his brother entered foster care with mats and fleas. Hershey developed a flea allergy during his shelter stay but he is now flea free and his small hotspots have cleared. His mats are gone, as is the bleached rough fur, revealing a beautiful liver, white, and tan coat with platinum fur on his ears and rear leg feathering. Hershey’s eyes are a soft golden color with lots of sparkle. This handsome boy is a tall and sturdy puppy, weighing in at 55 pounds with a few to gain.
Like any good Springer pup, Hershey loves to run and play in the yard. He has little interest in chasing the birds and squirrels in his foster home’s fenced yard, but loves playing with toys that squeak and chewing on hard bones. Hershey is always ready for a walk, pulling a little at first in his excitement, but settling down quickly. He is excellent in a no-pull harness.
He is good with the three Springers in his foster home and ignores the resident kitty. Due to his size and jumping up, he would do best with children over 10. Hershey would benefit from formal obedience training with his new family. As an active and smart boy, he may enjoy some agility work too! This handsome pup will be a wonderful addition to a very lucky family…..is that family yours?
