Original: Hershey was relinquished to MAESSR because she was having difficulty getting along with the dachshund that was in the home first. Her owner had tried extensively to have them enjoy each other as house mates but with limited success. In her foster home, Hershey is living with 8 other dogs and is getting along great with everyone. She loves to play with the other dogs in the yard. Her foster mom feels that Hershey will get along with other dogs at dog parks, on walks, and on a temporary basis in the same home. Her foster mom has also observed that Hershey does NOT like other dogs to come close when she is getting attention and/or food. The formula for Hershey’s success apparently will be in placing her as an only dog.
With people Hershey is eager to engage all and has a very sweet temperament toward humans. She just wants to be loved and have attention paid to her. She is housebroken, walks well on a leash, and LOVES to ride in the car. She is good when given free access to the home. Hershey is crate trained but it is unnecessary because of her lady-like house manners. She has not counter surfed or trash picked while in her foster home.
This beautiful gal has lived with her original family since she was 8 weeks. She’s been very well cared for and enjoys excellent health. While in her original home, her owner reported that she really enjoyed playing fetch with a Frisbee or Kong toy. She’s a people dog and wants as much “people” time as she can soak up. Whether retrieving a Frisbee, cuddling on the couch, or riding along on errands around town, Hershey will simply relish being close to those she holds special. Wouldn’t you love being that person???
