What possibly could be cuter than a Springer puppy? Nine Springer puppies! It’s raining puppies in MAESSRland since a Maryland family’s purebred Springers got together and had an accidental litter. MAESSR quickly offered to help the overwhelmed family in finding good, loving homes for the nine puppies. Since this windfall came in the fall, the pups were given names reflecting the beautiful colors of the season.
Hazel is a typical energetic, playful, and happy Springer puppy. She loves to run and play with her brother Rufous, and is often the one to wrestle or to initiate a game of tug-of-war. She recently learned how much fun it is to chase tennis balls in the backyard; getting her to bring the ball back is going to take some more work, though! At her last vet appointment, Hazel was very patient and well-behaved. She slept under the chair until the vet was ready to see her and then bravely stood on the exam table while the vet carried out the examination. She passed with flying colors!
This young pup has learned how much fun it is to go for walks on the leash and she tries very hard to keep up with her foster mom. She loves to greet all the neighbors with puppy kisses whether they are kids, adults or other dogs! Although she has not had any opportunities to meet any cats yet, puppies and cats can get along well with each other, so Hazel could have a cat or another playful dog in her forever home. Hazel will soon be able to be at the top of her obedience class when her forever family takes her to the obedience lessons that MAESSR requires for all adopted dogs who are a year or younger.
Hazel does not mind going into her crate, but she would still prefer to be near her people. When it comes to her housetraining, there is still a lot of work to do, but with a little patience and more time, her foster family is sure she will get the hang of going outside to take care of her elimination needs.
Full of energy and love, Hazel will soon be ready to be adopted into a lucky forever family!
