Harley was turned in by his owner because he was jumping their fence and roaming their neighborhood. We think that he was lonely as he was kept as an outside dog. He has a very nice personality. He is not really crate-trained. He fights going in, but he will go in. Even though we were not sure if he was housebroken, he has not had any accidents in the house. But, his foster family keeps a close eye on him. We don’t think that Harley has spent much time inside, everything seems new to him.
Harley went to the vet for the first time in three years, and this was what the vet had to say: “Harley is a good boy, but terribly timid-especially about his head and face. He did not attempt to snap with any of our procedures, but just was wanting to hide. I think he could make a great pet with a lot of TLC.”
Harley seems uncomfortable around the one teenager in the foster home. It could be that he was teased from behind a fence – we can’t know. But, we are not going to place him in a home where he will have a lot of contact with children.
Harley has a lot of energy and would do well with some sort of job, such as obedience class, agility, etc.
Harley is doing wonderfully. He is an avid bubble chaser. I blow bubbles for him, and he is in heaven…he has to try to pop every one. He is really settling down inside and getting into the routine. He still has not had any accidents, but we still watch fairly closely.
He will be in heaven when he gets his own people so he can get MORE UNDIVIDED attention. He has really warmed up to Chris, and now they are the best of friends. I think initially he was just so traumatized by all of the sudden changes that he did not know how to handle himself. Harley will now go into the crate without a problem. He has QUICKLY made the transition to inside dog. He shows all of the signs of wanting to be a constant inside companion. He does well with our dogs – no aggression at all. He has pretty much ignored the cat but really wants to “play” with the bunnies. He is going to make some lucky people a wonderful family addition.
Harley has really warmed up to “his” teenager. Everything was so new for him that we think that he was just overwhelmed. He is doing well and looking for a family to love him.
