Update 06/19/2014: “While her foster family is doing everything they can to get her ready for adoption, there are a few behavioral issues that are still being worked on.”
Harley was recently diagnosed with low thyroid levels and is now receiving medication to make her feel better. While her foster family is doing everything they can to get her ready for adoption, there are a few behavioral issues that are still being worked on.
Harley does NOT want anyone to touch her feet. This is a bit problematic because she chews on her feet all the time and her foot hair needs to be trimmed. Additionally, Harley gets anxious when riding in a car. If she can be in the shotgun seat where her foster mom can touch her all the time, she is fine. Otherwise she has caused damage to the interior of the car.
Please keep this girl in your thoughts as her foster family tries to help her overcome her obstacles.
Original: “Harley’s a good girl outside where she enjoys time in a fenced yard—no digging, chewing or fence jumping for this lady.”
When Harley’s Virginia owners needed to relocate to a home without a fenced in yard and felt they could not move, help their kids adjust to a new environment, and deal with Harley, they asked MAESSR to find this sweet, loving girl a new home.
This beautiful tri-color has had obedience training and knows “sit,” “stay,” and “shake.” While Harley is housetrained, she really, really, really does not like her crate. She wore her teeth down when she was crated! She is given free run of the house, but has been known to counter-surf, trash dive and bark at outside diversions. She also likes to steal the soap from the bathroom—she just wants to make sure her teeth are clean and her breath smells sweet!
A typical Velcro girl, Harley follows her mom around all day with time out for naps and bone-chewing breaks. She also definitely wants to be near her people when it’s time for those summer thunderstorms.
Harley’s a good girl outside where she enjoys time in a fenced yard—no digging, chewing or fence jumping for this lady. When on leash, she pulls just a bit at the beginning of her walk, but soon settles in to the stride of her walker. She has had some leash freedom, but will run over to people or dogs she sees. In the past, Harley enjoyed playing with a Frisbee or ball, but sadly, no one has been doing that with her recently.
While going to the vet is an o.k. adventure and a car ride is enjoyable, Harley is not fond of the groomer and may need to be muzzled for nail trimming. Her owner said she had a bad experience there once upon a time.
MAESSR’s new gal is going to be a wonderful addition to someone’s home. She’s old enough to have had training, does well in her house, loves her people, their friends and other dogs; she’s young enough to enjoy walking and outside activities and is eager for new playmates. How’s your throwing arm? Can you toss a Frisbee? Harley is just waiting for a new family so she can once again go for walks, catch a Frisbee and chase a ball.
