Update 3/16/04:
Unfortunately Hannah had to be put to sleep. With her severe separation anxiety and other ailments, she would never have lived a good life.
Update 1/27/04:
Hannah was originally adopted in 2/2003 and is now back in foster care. We are in the process of assessing her for separation anxiety.
Original:
Hannah is an adorable B/W girl who was pulled from the Page County Animal Shelter. She was found running loose and had been in the shelter for 3 weeks. As a consequence, we know nothing about her history, except that she had been adopted from the shelter and then returned because the family said she “wasn’t an indoor dog” (basically she needs training and guidance). Hannah is a long-legged adolescent, weighing in at a rather thin 36 pounds (she’s gaining weight now).
Hannah is a field ESS with a longer tail and curly flag and cute markings. She is a smart, playful, and eager to please love-bug, She is quickly learning basic obedience, walking on a leash, and house training, but will need more work. She has tolerated a bath, brushing and handling very well. She is willing to go into a crate when her foster mother is at work but has the run of the house otherwise (under supervision). Hannah loves to chew on soup bones and chew toys but is learning that pillows and slippers etc. are off limits. Hannah sleeps in the bedroom at night and is fond of sitting on the sofa (like the 2 resident ESSs).
Hannah was a bit shy at first but she’s rapidly overcoming this. She is very sweet and friendly to everyone she meets (even the vet). She is submissive and does well with other dogs and begs them to play. Hannah is fascinated by the resident cat and runs after her with tail wagging furiously (the cat prefers to be left alone, thank you). She has not been tested with children yet. She rides well in the car and likes to be outside in the fenced yard.
Hannah is all-puppy–full of energy and alert and curious. Even with her high energy level, she is exceptionally calm. Despite her rough start in life, her health is excellent except for a case of “springer ear” for which she is getting treatment. Hannah is full of love and would do well in a household that can give her the training and time she deserves.
Can you give Hannah the love and time she deserves?
