Original: “During the day, she and her foster sister spend time together in a gated sun room and have been wonderful company for each other.”
Hanna became a MAESSR girl when her eighty-two year old New Jersey owner lost her husband and moved in with her sister. The owner had been having trouble handling this good sized young lady and, once the move occurred, Hanna, who had always been well cared for, was no longer being walked.
Hanna was reported to be an anxious dog who was not happy when her owner was out of her sight. She is now receiving an anti-anxiety medication administered once daily and doing well. An adoption requirement for Hanna will be that she remain on her anti-anxiety medications for at least a year. They should only then be titrated downward under the direction of a veterinarian familiar with medications and behavior.
Hanna is doing well settling in her foster home. She is running and playing with the ten month old female and starting to play with the males in the house. Since she is now eating high quality kibble, her skin is appearing less dry. During the day, she and her foster sister spend time together in a gated sun room and have been wonderful company for each other.
Hanna is very demanding of attention when humans come home. However everyone is ignoring these over the top demands and being sure to treat all in the pack equally by going out and playing and throwing ball with all five dogs. Hanna does listen to commands, and, when she is determined to do something not allowed, a stern verbal correction works every time.
Hanna will need a playful laid back dog in her adoptive home. Having a fellow canine will help this new gal follow the cues, learn to be comfortable in her new surroundings, aid in her transition and help her live a happy life. Do you have a dog who would love a sister? This is the girl for you!!!
