Original: “This sweet boy has a gentle mouth and is easy to groom.”
In 2012, Han was adopted from a New Jersey shelter by a family with two young boys then ages four and six. He would play with the boys, jumping on them and dragging them around by their jacket hoods. Many jackets later, the owners found Han needed more time, training, and attention than they could provide. They contacted MAESSR and relinquished Han with much sadness.
Han is housetrained with no bad habits. He is also crate trained, but has the run of the house when his foster parents are gone. A true Velcro boy, Han whines if he cannot be with his people. At night he goes to bedroom and sleeps on his foster parents’ bed until they come to sleep. Who needs an electric blanket when Han is around! He’s a regular bed warmer. Han also likes to get up on the furniture but he has not been allowed to make that his place.
This sweet boy has a gentle mouth and is easy to groom. Even clipping his nails is a breeze. He is great at the vet, too, and loves riding in the car. Han walks nicely on a leash although he is a little nervous around busy streets. He stays around the property off lead and comes when called. His forever family will need to give Han some brushing up on basic commands as he does not stay nor sit on command. Interestingly, he knows hand signals. If you show two fingers and point to the floor, he will lie down. He’s a smart one!
Han gets along with other dogs and reportedly he got along with some of the cats at his previous home. He and the resident dog enjoy running around and playing with each other. At his foster parents’ farm, he enjoyed wading and playing in the creek. He doesn’t know how to swim yet, but loved being in the water.
His previous owner said that Han guards his high value treats. However, his foster family has not had food issues with him since he does not get high value treats; he is fine with just plain dog biscuits! He is also fed in a separate room from the resident dog.
Not a high energy boy, Han is happy to stay in the house. He loves to be petted and kissed! He would be a perfect fit with any family. How about making him your own sweet Springer?
