Update 01/21/08:
Springers can be incredibly adaptable, and Haley is not the exception. She is doing great in her foster home. She has settled in and is doing well on her medication. She is playing with the other dogs and with the resident son and his friends when they’re over. Haley likes rubber toys, such as Kongs, a hard rubber ball, a rubber tire, or a pup tread, the most. She has become more vocal and is very demanding at meal times. She’s ready to announce dinner for a new family and will make that family a very engaging companion.
Original:
Haley is looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She has lived with her family since she was six weeks old. Unfortunately, the resident two year old boy has been diagnosed as being severely allergic and the family has not been able to find a way to keep Haley, despite keeping her shaved down and trying to keep her away from the child. They felt it best that Haley find a new home where she can be part of the family as fully as she used to be in their home. So, they relinquished her to MAESSR.
Haley is a one smart, sweet girl. She knows several commands and several tricks. Her health issue of urine leakage is easily treatable – one inexpensive pill every other day. Haley is housebroken, crate-trained, gets along with other dogs, and loves children, from infant to toddler to young children. Haley is trusted in the house when alone, but is not above checking out the counters if there’s a tempting smell.
Haley doesn’t like long car rides and has been tranquilized for these long trips, but she does fine with short drives of one hour or less. Haley doesn’t dig, chew or try to jump or climb over fences in the yard. She will bark at strangers, though.
Haley is a sweet girl who is a little confused with the recent changes in her life. We’ll learn more about her as she settles into her foster home.
